North Central community foundation grants $154K to 25 nonprofits

The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts distributed $154,000 among 25 area nonprofits for community enrichment projects and operational effectiveness.
The Fitchburg-based foundation manages charitable funds established by individuals, families, businesses, and other nonprofit organizations and invests in the 33-communities it serves in North Central Massachusetts.
“The variety of community enrichment projects we are able to support demonstrates the extraordinary ingenuity, energy, and enthusiasm of our local nonprofit organizations,” foundation President and CEO Stephen Adams said in a Friday press release.
The 25 organization who received funding were:
- Seeds of Solidarity in Orange received $10,935 for its project Creativity, Connection, Community: Women Healing Women Healing Earth.
- Community Legal Aid, Inc. which has an office in Fitchburg, received $10,000 for its North Central Legal Aid Outreach Project.
- Friends of the Wendell Meetinghouse in Wendell received $10,000 for a heating and cooling system.
- Fitchburg Cultural Alliance received $10,000 for its Main Street Studios project.
- Lunenburg Skate Park received $10,000 to build a safe and legal skate park.
- The Cannon Theater in Devens received $10,000 for its 2023 childrens’ programming.
- The Montachusett Recovery Foundation Corp. in Leominster received $10,000 to build out office space.
- Bigelow Free Public Library in Clinton received $9,108 towards its Community Outreach Mobile Library.
- The Bulfinch Fund in Lancaster received $6,700 for Bulfinch Meetinghouse restoration.
- Open Sky Community Services’ Crystal House Clubhouse in Gardner received $6,000 for social and cultural trips.
- Clinton Adult learning Center received $5,000 for adult education programs.
- Athol Orange Community Television received $5,000 for a closed-captioning system.
- The Fitchburg Historical Society received $5,000 for computer upgrades.
- GAAMHA, Inc. in Gardner received $5,000 for critical roof repairs.
- Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts, Inc. in Acton received $5,000 for computer upgrades.
- Spanish American Center in Leominster received $5,000 for laptops.
- The Farm School in Athol received $5,000 for critical repairs.
- The Harvard Conservation Trust received $4,485 for a juried art show called Destination: Nature.
- Townsend Public Library received $3,830 for computer upgrades.
- Winchendon Community Action Committee received $3,619 for equipment for Sunshine Cafe and Farmstand.
- Beacon of Hope Community Services, Inc. in Leominster received $3,000 for computer upgrades.
- The Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts in Worcester received $3,000 for a program called Joy in Art and Nature.
- Community development corporation NewVue Communities in Fitchburg received $2,885 for an interpretation system.
- Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Inc. in Devens received $2,500 for office dividers.
“By supporting small capital projects, we help our local nonprofits complete projects that they ordinarily would not be able to. I hope more people will channel some of their philanthropy through the Community Foundation’s field of interest funds,” foundation Board Chair Jay Drake said.
